Prof. Dr. Lovely Sharma is a well-known Sitarist with more than 23 years of professional experience and 10 years of teaching. She has committed her life to performing, teaching, and researching Indian classical music, with the Sitar serving as an instrument for healing and societal transformation.
Prof. Sharma, the first woman to acquire a D.Litt. in Sitar, has received various awards and led over 250 music therapy workshops in jails and 300 in schools and isolated places. Her work emphasises the therapeutic and transforming power of music.
Her overseas concerts in Iran, Australia, Malaysia, and China demonstrate her dedication to promoting Indian classical music worldwide. She has also written seven books, greatly contributing to the academic study of music.
Prof. Sharma is a life member of over 75 organisations and continues to use music to promote unity and social welfare, working tirelessly for the betterment of underprivileged communities and promoting Indian classical traditions worldwide.
